Nonprofit in Alexandria seeks a permanent Events Assistant.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Events Department by managing tasks and projects.
- Handle inquiries and direct phone calls to appropriate personnel.
- Schedule meetings and prepare materials.
- Coordinate travel logistics and create itineraries.
- Manage inventory of event materials and collect shipments.
- Develop event websites to provide and collect accurate information.
- Update internal database and maintain tracking sheets.
- Establish relationships and maintain strong communication between the organization and volunteers.
- Train speakers and scholarship participants.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned that support the overall company mission.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Strong proofreading and editing skills.
- Strong commitment to the company’s mission.
- Strong foresight and ability to anticipate needs.
- Ability to problem solve and think proactively.
- Ability to exercise good judgement given minimal direction.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1-3 years of event planning or administrative experience.
- Previous experience working with veteran families or military services a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.
Salary: $55,000 – $58,000
