Nonprofit in Alexandria seeks a permanent Events Assistant.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Events Department by managing tasks and projects.
  • Handle inquiries and direct phone calls to appropriate personnel.
  • Schedule meetings and prepare materials.
  • Coordinate travel logistics and create itineraries.
  • Manage inventory of event materials and collect shipments.
  • Develop event websites to provide and collect accurate information.
  • Update internal database and maintain tracking sheets.
  • Establish relationships and maintain strong communication between the organization and volunteers.
  • Train speakers and scholarship participants.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned that support the overall company mission.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills.
  • Strong commitment to the company’s mission.
  • Strong foresight and ability to anticipate needs.
  • Ability to problem solve and think proactively.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement given minimal direction.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of event planning or administrative experience.
  • Previous experience working with veteran families or military services a plus.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel as needed.

Salary: $55,000 – $58,000
