Temp of the Month November 2021: Claire Lauder

Claire moved to Washington, D.C. and joined the Whitman team after graduating with a degree in Marketing. While working in commercial property management, she is pursuing an MBA with a concentration in Data Analytics.

In her free time, she enjoys reading, baking, and spending time outdoors. Claire is looking forward to continuing her career in property management in Washington, D.C.

Temp of the Month October 2021: Makaya Gittens

With a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park, and an MA in Theater/Live Event Production from San Diego State University, Makaya has a professional interest in problem solving and logistics. This interest has led her to produce a number of events including corporate conferences, networking and social events, and a city-wide DJ Battle at the House of Blues in San Diego. Makaya hopes to continue growing her career in special event management.

During her free time, Makaya enjoys dancing and traveling. She has studied modern dance, west-african dance, hip-hop dance and acrobatics. So far, her travels include Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Senegal, St. Croix, St. Maarten, Trinidad and 22 states. A New York native, Makaya has lived in Washington DC for a total of 9 years and enjoys living in a city with so much to explore and learn.

Temp of the Month September 2021: Millie Frankel

Millie is a graduate of Oberlin College with a degree in Creative Writing with minors in Hispanic Studies and Comparative American Studies. Prior to working with Whitman Associates, she was a legal assistant serving the immigrant community.

She is currently training to become a yoga teacher and hopes to one day teach yoga to children. She also hopes to pursue her passion for creative writing by continuing her education through a Master’s in Fine Arts program.

She moved to DC two years ago, and in her free time she enjoys walking in Rock Creek Park and playing Taylor Swift songs on the guitar. In college she was on the bowling team, and she found out recently that her skills still hold up.

Temp of the Month August 2021: Sydney Cox

Sydney is a recent graduate of Tiffin University, earning two Bachelors of Criminal Justice in Homeland Security and Terrorism and Forensic Psychology and a Minor in Latin American Studies.

While in college, Sydney focused her studies on the psychology of terrorism and counterterrorism. She competed on the university’s varsity equestrian team for three years and served as a captain in her last year. Sydney completed an internship at the New York Center for Foreign Policy Affairs.

She authored articles on US relations with Russia, Russia’s nuclear proliferation, and Venezuela’s humanitarian and political crisis. Additionally, she completed an internship with the National Defense University, where she assisted with the Terrorism and Crime course. She is planning to earn her Master’s degree in the future in the field of security studies, international development, or international security policy. Sydney hopes to pursue a career in terrorism-related intelligence and eventually a career in foreign policy.

Sydney recently moved to the DC area and is enjoying her time exploring the area.

Temp of the Month July 2021: Thomas Weaver

Thomas is a recent graduate of Pennsylvania State University, earning his Bachelor of Arts in Economics. While in college, Thomas explored interest in emerging Financial Technologies such as Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain and how they can provide economic security and protections to the disenfranchised. Following his passion, he obtained certification from Duke University’s School of Law in the field of “International Financial Technology Law & Policy”.

He is planning to pursue his J.D. in the future in order to be selected for the Attorney General’s Honors Program with the Department of Justice. If selected, Thomas will become an Assistant United States Attorney and focus on Financial Crimes. In his spare time, he likes to read, graphic design, collect art, and cook international foods.

Temp of the Month June 2021: Viktor Pattianakotta

Viktor is an experienced professional with a demonstrated history of working in international affairs. He is a co-founder of the Indonesian Leadership Foundation, a Maryland-based nonprofit that focuses on developing Indonesia’s future leaders through education and professional development. Since its founding in 2010, the nonprofit has awarded scholarships to 25 underprivileged students to go to college in Indonesia.

Viktor holds a B.A. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland. In his spare time, he likes to listen to music or podcasts, run, bike, and explore the city.

Temp of the Month May 2021: Lizzy Rader

Lizzy is a graduate of the University of Mary Washington, where she received a B.A. in Theatre with a double minor in Business Administration and Arts Administration. Lizzy has found a passion working with non-profit and arts and cultural organizations in Washington, DC, and hopes to continue her career in this area of work.

In her spare time, Lizzy is a crafting influencer and runs a successful small business called Crafting by Lizzy where she provides crafting tutorials, homemade gifts, business partnerships, and live classes.

Temp of the Month April 2021: Sandra Maduforo

Sandra studied at George Washington University and graduated in January 2020 with a B.S. in Public Health and Economics.

As a Nigerian-American, she is passionate about global health equity and plans to devote her career to making quality healthcare more accessible to all people. She will begin graduate school in the Fall of 2021 to obtain a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Epidemiology.

In the meantime, Sandra enjoys working to make civil legal aid opportunities more accessible to DC residents who are underserved.

Temp of the Month March 2021: Dean Marzullo

Dean Marzullo is a 2020 Alum from George Mason University with a BA in Global Affairs.

Prior to working as a temp for Whitman, he had the distinction of interning at the Office of Senator Tim Kaine during the spring of 2019.

He is happy to continue work in public service under his current assignment with the Virginia Rent and Mortgage Relief Program.
